Food galore@SS5 Food Court, S2 Centrio.

Everyone calls him by his surname 'Mr Chok' followed by requests like 'Can you help me with this or where can I put this or can I switch on the power now?' and the owner would gladly oblige all those requests in return for many replies of gratitude that sounded like this 'Thank you, Mr Chok.... Kam siah thau-ke..... Terima Kasih, En Chok....谢谢老板'

And that's the same way I thanked Mr Chok when he introduced me to all the stall owners and gave me total freedom to wander around the new food court and to snap as many photos as I like.

Given with this kind of autonomy is like a wet dream for a blogger like me.

Now back to the owner, he is a local guy from Bandar Springhill near Lukut and surprisingly his business has no relation to the food business and he has zero experience in managing a food court.

So what gave him the idea to embark on something that is out of his core competency?

It is because of his love of eating at food courts constantly and so he thought why not open one of his own some day.

And on the 18th Dec 2018 his SS5 food court in S2 Centrio is finally opened with much spanner in the works initially but in the end he managed to pull through.

Q. So what happens when you give me full autonomy to blog about a new food court?

A. I'll end up with 60 over photos of food galore for you to gawk at.

Stall No. 1
The Fish ball / Meat ball soup.

Most would instantly recognize both father and daughter with their signature dish the 'Sam Kan Zhong' 三间庄 which is the squarish pork meat balls with noodles of your choice. And this is their new branch from the original shop in 666 food court which is just a stone's throw away.

Up close shot of their famous squarish pork meat balls.

Pork meat ball Laksa noodles.

Stall No. 2
The Chee Cheong Fun stall.

A simple plate of CCF

And if you fancy something different then just try this CCF in curry sauce.

Stall No.3
Prawn Mee, Asam Laksa and Yong Tau Foo.

Notice that the broth of the Asam Laksa is really thick with generous amount of minced sardines.

This is a bowl of Prawn Mee but the prawns are sold out so substitute with Yong Tau Foo, fried wanton and whatever they could replace.

Stall No.4
The Pork Noodles and Pan Mee.

The owner has a great sense of humor but was very camera shy and joked that his face cannot go on social media which may cause disturbance in the force.

The is a bowl of hand stretched Pan Mee with their signature minced pork ball.

An assortment of cut pork mix.

A bowl of pork noodles.

Meanwhile let's check out the scene at the dining area.

Full house and please be patient for a table.

The vegetarian stall.
There are a few same stall operators from other food courts that opened a new branch here. For eg. recognize this vegetarian stall? Their original stall is at 99 food court in Kepayang Commerce []

Vegetarians can dine here as well.

Lets' go outside and check out the Chicken rice stall.

Another owner that opened a new branch here. The original shop is in 666 Food court which is just a penalty's kick away and both husband and wife will take turns managing both stalls. And he also said "Opening an additional stall means generating additional income" and he's absolutely right.

Roast Pork with Char Siew  Rice

Stall No.5
The Sabahan Mee stall.

The Sabahan lady is very friendly and was very shy to have her photo taken and has nothing much to talk but she lets her east Borneo cooking does all the talking.

The Sabah pork belly noodles and just look at the prodigious amount of pork lard!

Sabah Curry Pork Ribs noodles.

A simple plate of Wan Ton Mee.

The Sarawak Laksa.

The Sabah styled curry pork noodles.

I have to thank this Sabah lady for bringing Borneo cooking to Seremban 2.

Stall No.6

66 Bak Kut Teh stall.

A hot and simmering pot of BKT with rice.

You can also opt for BKT with instant noodles.

This lady boss is not only ultra friendly but very health conscious as she kept emphasizing to me about the importance of preserving a healthy eating habit.

This is a new crock pot stall operator and it is their first time doing business in Seremban 2 but unfortunately the crock pot needs some wiring adjustment so it will only be operational later and I can't see what's inside but meanwhile they also have other special side dishes that emphasizes on healthy foods.

The Chinese chicken wine with rice and can you see the blueish hue in the rice?

It is because the rice is cooked with Butter-Pea flowers / Bunga Telang just like the Nasi Kerabu and the flower is well known for its wonderful health benefits.

The lady boss also said all their food contains no preservatives and are without MSG.

Don't forget to try their famous Coconut Chicken Soup. It is served hot straight from the crock pot.

You can also opt for take-away.

After so much talk on a healthy eating habits you are now allowed to indulge in a little bit of sin.
A bowl of pork trotters in vinegar.

YOYO WOK!

The most hip and upbeat stall of all!
The owner is very sporting, talkative and full of positive energy it is because the entire family of four helps out at the stall.

The father is the head chef and when he takes a break, his daughter dubbed the 'little chef' will take over.

The fried Lo Si Fun freshly out from the wok.

A plate of fried Lo Si Fun.

And when I asked 'What is so special about your stall?'

And they answered, have you ever tried Spaghetti fried Mamak style?

The spaghetti is first weighted to ensure the right amount for every plate.
And straight into the hot wok to be fried (Inset) The daughter in action while her father takes a break.

They were formerly from a food court in Taman Seremban Jaya and took a short break when her father needed medical care and when he has fully recovered they decided to do business outside of Tmn Seremban Jaya and that's how they ended up at this new food court.

Behold the Spaghetti fried Malaysian style and this unique dish is only available here in SS5 Food Court.

And this is the Western Style Spaghetti with their special sauce.

You can also opt for vegetarian where they will replace with mushrooms and some greens.

Their signature Char Koay Teow with fresh prawns.

Stall No. 9

The Tasty kitchen.

Another familiar face in the culinary scene in Seremban. The chef was previously at 2388 Food Court in S2 and now decided to give this new place a try. And those who like 'Wok' fried foods ought to stick to this stall.
The Cantonese style Yee Mee.

'Sin Chow' Mee Hoon.

A simple plate of Fried Rice.

Now I understand why everyone calls him Sifu because he knows how to capture the Wok Hei into all the dishes.

A hot and smoking hot plate of Hokkien Mee with plenty of Wok-Hei.

Let's again check out the crowd outside.

Inside is so packed that some don't mind sitting outside near hot afternoon sun!

The stall that opens at night.

SayPool Junction Cafe.
SayPool has been around long enough for everyone to know when it first started in Oakland commercial square and then shifted to Seremban Ria and now they opened another new stall here.

Offering you their house specialty like Satay, Sotong Kangkung, Tauhu Bakar and Otak Otak.

The Taufu is grilled on the stove until golden brown.

Out from the stove and straight into the plate.

A plate of Tauhu Bakar mix with Kangkung together with their special sauce and topped with crushed peanuts.

SayPool's famous homemade Otak Otak is a must try and as I was snapping this photo, a regular customer suddenly showed up and ordered 80 pieces to be split into 4 tables.

SayPool's plate of Sotong Kangkung mix with Tauhu bakar, special homemade sauce and sprinkled with crushed peanuts.

The last photo to wrap up the blog was taken at night where most of the crowd chose to sit outside to enjoy the night's cool air. The location of the food court is easy to find, it is on the other side near S2 Mydin Mall or should you need any help just call the number on the signboard.
