Putu Piring Melaka @Tengkera (Malacca) (Halal)

Both sides of the narrow road was filled with parked cars and the easiest way to spot the shop selling these delicious snacks would be the long queue that meanders along the walkway of the 4D nombor ekor shop Toto next to it.

The putu piring is made of 3 simple ingredients rice, gula Melaka (Palm sugar) & grated coconut. And it is steamed in a matter of minutes then placed on a piece of banana leaf and served hot.

Tourists making a pit stop to try out the authentic Putu Piring Melaka and when asked how it tasted they said it is very fragrant, soft and not too sweet.

It firstly shaped into a dish on top of a stainless steel funnel and then covered with a piece of cloth before being placed on the steamer for about a few minutes and voila! Best served while still hot!

The putu piring being packed to be taken away and should you choose to eat it the following day for breakfast then it is best to put it into containers with holes for ventilation to keep it soft and fluffy until the next morning.

It is best eaten fresh from the steamer as the generous filling of gula Melaka would melt in your mouth and same time you can also smell the fragrant of the steamed rice.

This photo was taken back in July 2014 when they used to hand out number tags to customers to place their orders but today this method has been replace with the queue and the price was still RM1.00 but today it is RM1.20 a piece.

The meandering queue for the mouth watering snack. The mood is vibrant with lotsa smiles and there's time for a wefie too.

Walaupun queue panjang tetapi para pelanggan amat ceria dan sempat mengambil wefie.
